Description: Contains trailheads and trail access points. Trailheads are designed specifically for access to multi-use paths and wildland trails and may have trail-specific parking and other amenities (e.g. restrooms, drinking fountains, ramadas, or picnic tables). Trail access points provide access to trails through parks or neighborhoods and may not have any trail-specific parking or other amenities.
Known Errors/Qualifications: The data are derived from multiple sources (e.g. GPS, heads-up digitizing, geospatial data from other jurisdictions and agencies) and should be considered representational as quality can vary across sources.
Spatial Domain: Pima County

Description: Contains recreational trails, both urban multi-use paths and wildland trails, in Pima County. Trails are defined as any multi-use path or wildland trail intended for use by non-motorized user groups (e.g. pedestrian, equestrian, or cyclists) and does not include street-side sidewalks or street bike lanes. Motorized vehicles (e.g. ATVs, motorized bicycles, motorcycles, and scooters) are not allowed on trails. User groups restrictions are determined by the managing agency and are reflected in the attributes.
Known Errors/Qualifications: The trails layer includes conceptual, planned, unauthorized and open trails. Most users should filter on STATUS = 'OPEN' to display only open trails.

Maintenance Description: Coordinate with Matt, James Brown updates RTBL_st_bike_rte related table. Non STNET feature classes are appended from TRAILS layer based on query BIKE = 'Y' and SURFACE = 'HARD' -> Shared-use path, BIKE = 'Y' and SURFACE = 'SOFT' or 'NATURAL' -> Hiking/Mountain Bike/Equestrian/Wildland Trail. If the bike path is designated as a Special Bikeway, the special bikeway name is entered in the NAME_BKWY field. Nightly script E:\batch\DOT\stnet\bike_rte\script\bike_rte_SPARCSDE.py on spgisproc1 creates the layer.
Major updates are intended to be done every 3 years, as that is when PAG officially approves a new map.
