Description: Status: COMPLETED 5/1/2011Contact: Anna Sanchez, Principal Planner, Housing and Community Development Department phone: 837-6953 email: anna.sanchez@tucsonaz.gov Intended Use: To determine the boundaries of the NSP3 Target area for the purposes of purchasing vacant, foreclosed homes for the purposes of rehabilitation and resale or lease to low income persons. Supplemental Information: The NSP3 boundaries designate the boundaries associated with the federal grant received by the City of Tucson for the third round of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP3). The City received approximately $2 million to purchase vacant, foreclosed homes within these boundaries. The homes will be rehabilitated and then sold or leased to low income persons. The boundaries were chosen by City staff and verified by the federal government to meet certain criteria that when analyzed, resulted in a minimum score. The calculation was based on a number of factors, including the number of recent foreclosures in the area and the housing cost burden of homeowners. Also, the area designated could not be so large that the purchase of these homes would not have a transformational impact on the area. The Housing and Community Development Department is also using these boundaries to target other services/programs in an effort to help transform the area. For example, the HOME program down payment assistance offered by the City will be higher if a qualified homebuyer chooses a home located in this area.Attributes: ATTRIBUTE1 Name, names the target area ATTRIBUTE2 Area, size of area, Units of Measure = acres
